Schurgin and Zheng both win 2016 department awards.

Congratulations to Mark Schurgin and Zheng Ma, both of whom won well-deserved awards at the department's annual end-of-year celebration. 

Here are the details from the official announcement:


This award recognizes a graduate student who has demonstrated an excellent record of service to the department, including committee involvement, mentorship, community outreach, etc. 

The 2016 Walter L. Clark Service Award is being given to MARK SCHURGIN. Congratulations Mark!


This award recognizes a graduate student who has demonstrated exceptional scholarly progress in dissertation research (4th year and beyond) as evidenced by performance on the thesis proposal, conducting careful and productive scientific inquiry, PBS seminars, area seminars, publications, etc.

The 2016 G. Stanley Hall Scholars Award is being given to ZHENG MA.  Congratulations Zheng!

Schurgin wins Dean's teaching fellowship!

Mark Schurgin has won a prestigious Dean's Teaching Fellowship.

In the fall, he will teach his own undergrad course on 'The Illusion of Perception.' Undergraduates — get ready for the best class ever!

Finally! The lab is getting a decent website (Jon says, as though its anyone else's fault). For now, we've got an up-to-date publications page, and current grad students listed under 'people,' because, well, that's what they are. People will get populated soon with post-docs, undergrads, and rumor has it, even PIs. And then lot's more to follow, so check back soon.
